ALL applicants must complete this regardless of whether they believe they qualify as low-income. This information will only be used to determine or verify your student's eligibility and is never passed onto another agency. TRIO SSS regulations require that income from a parent or guardian (or student) be reported from the tax year immediately preceding your application. For example, if an application is turned in in 2025, the income reported must be from 2024. A student's dependency status determines whose income must be reported. This is based on how the student has completed the FAFSA: Dependent Students: Are typically under the age of 24, unmarried, not a veteran, and had to provide parent (or guardian) information on the FAFSA. So, a parent or guardian must provide their taxale income and signature for the TRIO SSS income verification. Independent Students: Are typically 24 or older, married, a veteran, or supporting dependents and did not provide parent information on the FAFSA. So, they can provide their own taxable income for the TRIO SSS income verification.
