ALL applicants must complete this regardless of whether you believe you qualify as low-income. This information will only be used to determine or verify eligibility and is never passed onto another agency. TRIO SSS regulations require that income from you and/or a parent or guardian be reported from the tax year immediately preceding your application. For example, if you are applying in 2025, you must report income from 2024. Your dependency status determines whose income must be reported. This is based on how you completed the FAFSA: Dependent Students: Are typically under the age of 24, unmarried, not a veteran, and had to provide parent information on the FASFA. So, a parent or guardian must provide their taxable income and signature for our income verification. Independent Students: Are typically age 24 or older, married, a veteran, or supporting dependents and did not provide parent information on the FAFSA. So, they can provide their own taxable income for our income verification.
